He then completed a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of London in 1989. In 1994 got his PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Medical School and in 1999, he received his Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine from Queen Mary University of London.
He practices as a Consultant Honorary Physician in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Mile End Sports Clinic, Bart’s and the London NHS Trust since 2013. He sees patients’ with musculoskeletal injuries and pathologies such as hamstring, tendon and bone stress injuries, low back pain and exercise- and sport-related pain. He has specialist interests in Extra Shock Wave Therapy, ultrasound guided injections and low laser level treatment.
Dr Malliaropoulos is also a member of the following professional organisations and associations:

He was also the Director of the Sports Injuries Clinic of Track and Field Hellenic Association in Thessaloniki from 1986 till 2019. In previous years, he was the Chief Medical Officer of the Hellenic Olympic Team XXVIII in the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics.
Dr Malliaropoulos is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London. At the university he lectures on the management of sports injuries and sports imaging. He has been a part of several publications within the area of sports and exercise medicine between 2001 and 2021.
In his personal life, Dr Malliaropoulos became a UKCC Level 2 British Judo Coach and 5th Dan Balkan Judo Champion.
