What is Rheumatology ?

Rheumatology is a branch of internal medicine that specialises in conditions of the muscles, joints, bones and tendons. Rheumatologists are also uniquely able to treat autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and others. Rheumatologists are usually the first doctors someone will see if they are experiencing joint pain, muscle weakness or swelling, and Raynaud’s phenomenon.
